The Lost of Basic Courtesy

Nowadays, I find that many take things for granted and that they ought to deserve certain things. Simple things like when you are driving and you need to jump queue. Do you show a hand signal saying "Thank You"? When you get something from someone, do you say "Thank You"? Or when someone calls you, and there is a "Missed Call", do you return the call? Or do you reply the sms?

Recently, I sent a friend A, a birthday gift. He resides overseas. In that envelope which was addressed to him, I also inserted a gift for a friend, B. The gift took a week to reach. B emailed me and thanked me. But I have not heard from A, not sms, not email, not a phone call. That's strange. If A acknowledged and B didn't, I would think that A has not passed it to B. But B called, so definitely A has received it. But what I am coming at is, why is it so hard to say thank you and appreciate what a friend has gone through to do for you. Young people. I think they ought to go back to school.

Construction vs Constructive Division

Horrors of horrors - my very first ad that I did.... instead of "Our Organization comprises of Construction Division", it was "Our Organization comprises of Constructive Division". That's a very big difference and it went out to the whole of Klang Valley. We sometimes take things for granted, and especially this, it has been read many times, so nobody noticed that. I will be double careful in the future! Phew!

Irritating Ring Tones

I am sure most of you have called your friends and then instead of the old fashion ring tones, you now get to hear music. Some music are ok and some are really loud and blasting. It is really irritating, and since it is so loud, you got to put it away from your ear. And when you put it away from your ear, you won't know when your friend picks up. Sometimes, try calling your own handphone and feel it.

Updates on the Receptionist

Wednesday - November 7, I received a sms from the Receptionist, saying still on MC. Will be back to work on Friday! I was furious, and said, only one hand is painful. You can walk to the clinic to get a MC but can;t walk to work. She said this time MC is for gastric. There were lots of exchanges of sms which is too long for here. Today, she came back, making a lot of noise, closing the drawer loudly. The doctor wrote it was her left hand that was injured. And she was carrying a heavy large file with her left hand together with some lettters. How can a muscle-torn hand recover so soon? Anyway, the MD called her in and lectured her. He said if she doesn't like it, she can hand-in her resignation letter. She went to the toilet to cry and talked to the boyfriend. She came back and started packing. I asked her, "what are you doing?" She said, "I am leaving". I told her she can't just leave like that, need to give one month notice. She said she will pay back. etc. So the end of this gal...

Do You Use Your Hand To Talk?

My receptionist sms me this morning to say that her hand is swollen and can't move. She said she is going to the doctor and will let me know what the doctor said. I replied her, as a receptionist, you use your mouth to talk not your hand. Your legs are ok, you can walk and take a bus to work. Later on, she informed me that her doctor gave her 2 days MC, because she tore a muscle on her hand. I told her, it is only one hand, not two hands, she can use the other hand to pick up the receiver. She said the more she use the other hand, that hand will be numb. She also mentioned that she has tonsillitis. But she was yelling over the phone at me. Sigh!
She actually applied a leave earlier on Tuesday, but because her MC also fell on Tuesday, she asked for her leave to be moved to Wednesday. I told her no, it is disruptive and she will be gone for 2 days and to have the substitute to sit there for the 3rd day, it will be unfair. She got mad and accused me of not understanding the Malay wedding custom and she didn't let me argue back, asked me to "Shut Up!" and she hung up the phone. I sent her a sms telling her that it was very rude of her to ask me to "Shut Up" and hang up the phone. She called back later to say she didn't hang up but her phone battery was dead. I scolded her - doesn't mean i am a chinese I don't know Malay wedding custom. She didn't even apologise for asking me to "Shut Up". I gave her a warning letter for being rude.

Protein for my hair

Nicely dressed and hair nicely blown - as I was walking to work, on the arm of the lamp post sit a flock of small birds, and one of the birds had to drop his droppings on my hair! Eeewwwww!

Down Memory Lane

To pick up from the last stop...

Career
Driving to Klang from Mondays to Fridays has stopped... now I am just working close to home. A small company, but big projects, dreams. I am having a challenging position, and stressful because it is results-orientated. Glad that my experience from a German and American company helped me to help this company. With almost zero based, it is easy to do and so acceptable by the MD.

Farewell
Working in a small town like Klang is different. They are very warmth. (Imagine, KW, AT and I left the same time). Because KW was leaving, his gals did all the nice things, like breakfast and i get to eat. These gals with the rest bought us dinner. Company also gave us a farewell lunch at Dragon Garden. I had a thank you slides shown to them and treated them to KFC. The working journey ended with a Bangkok/Pattaya trip.

SMSP
This year, June 22 - 26, the group went to Pulau Perhentian. The highlight of this trip is the snorkeling adventure. Although this time the group was small, but we all had fun.
October 19 - 25.5 people came for a SMSP gathering at A & W. (Juseleen brought her son).
September 18 - met up with Romi who came to Malaysia for a holiday with her newly wed husband. They had a honeymoon in Bali.
October 29 - met up with Erik von RĂ¼sten (my baby) and girlfriend Eva Maria who came back for a holiday.

Melody Choir
2007 - the choir get the opportunity to sing in the main church whenever there is a 5th Sunday. This year we went to Penang, Madras Lane Church to sing and received wonderful feedback. Godmom was very impressed.

Others
Wrikles had to be put to sleep in May. Her hind legs suddenly lost the feeling and she couldn't stand on her legs anymore. Zippy is doing fine and happy to be get all the attention now.

Hello Again!

It feels great to be able to blog again! I would have come back much earlier, but I had trouble getting in and then I was busy to explore further. And today is my lucky day, the internet is moving a bit faster and everything was set-up to go.

About Pulau Kecil, Perhentian Island

Pulau Perhentian Kechil is about 4 kms long and a km wide at its widest and tapering down to a couple of 100 metres at the northern end. It is 21 kms off the northeastern coast of Peninsular Malaysia in the South China Sea. The highest points are about 1000 feet. It is a jungle clad at the back and crystal clear waters in front. Monitors lizards, pit vipers, leaf snakes, phythons, tokay gheckos and red bushy tailed squirrels inhabit these islands. There are aggresive monkeys in the jungle on the northern edge of the island and one must carry a stick for intimidation when hiking here. Huge monitor lizards come right up to people, looking for garbage to eat. During the migration season like now end October, a flock of white egrets and a black egret were spotted feeding on the beach. There are 2 famous beaches are Long Beach and Coral Bay. Long Beach on the eastern seaboard is the most popular tourist haunt with its drinking and music. This is also where the majority of dive shops are located. Coral Bay on the western side is the peaceful and quiet, lovers and family haunt with its spectacular sunsets. Being a Marine Park the Marine Department collects a RM5 levy on every visitor at the Kuala Besut Jetty. Both beaches are not allowed to build jetties to preserve the Marine Park environment as such visitors have to avail themselves of water taxis to get to shore from the speedboats at RM2 per person per way. Or get wet. There are also smaller beaches, some with accomodation. There is all types of accomodation available as well as dive shops. Room rates can range from RM50 (USD17) to RM1,000 (USD250) per night. Fun dives are around RM70 per dive whilst Open Water Courses are around RM700. Monsoon rains are not expected till after mid November. The waves are 1 feet on rough days and flat on good days. The winds are calm (less than 5mph) and variable, changing between southwesterly and northeasterly. The diving is amazing.
